Dine-Arounds: Sign-Ups Now Available!

One of the most popular features of the ACMA Annual Meeting is the Thursday and Saturday evening dine-arounds! Take advantage of two fun nights with ACMA Fellows and their guests at one of the many renowned restaurants in and around the La Jolla area at which small group reservations have been made.

If you plan to participate, sign up quickly to ensure that your preferred restaurant on either or both night(s) is available!

Want to know more about the restaurants at which ACMA has made reservations before you make your selection(s)? Read this document (PDF) with descriptions and other details.

Please note:

  • When you have selected a restaurant on the sign-up form, be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Save and Continue” to complete the process for confirming your selection.
  • Include a cell number at which you can be reached in La Jolla.
  • If the 8 seats at your preferred restaurant have been claimed, you can add your name to the Wait List area on the form.

Dine-around participants will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the restaurant. “Captains” will be assigned to each restaurant to confirm the participation of each person that has signed up and to help coordinate transportation.

ACMA Fellows and their guests always have a fun evening at the dine-arounds!

PRESIDIO & MISSION SAN DIEGO/$110 per person/50 maximum participants
1:00 pm–5:00 pm

Your afternoon will start with a visit to San Diego’s first mission, dating back to 1776. We’ll have a docent tour and time to visit the lush gardens before continuing to the Presidio, perched high above Mission Valley and the site of the original mission in 1769, with stunning views.

HIKING TORREY PINES STATE RESERVE/$145 per person
1:00 pm–3:30 pm

San Diego isn’t a city known for its wooded areas. Parks and beaches, yes! But woods? Not so much! It’s extra special that you’ll have the opportunity to hike Torrey Pines, a piece of wooded hiking bliss. Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is a protected piece of land that is located on a gradually sloping hill of auburn rocks, and dirt trails that taper off onto the beach from a high bluff scattered with the rare Torrey Pine tree and other shrubbery and plants.

Guests embark on an off-the-beaten-path trail hike! This outdoor adventure is less urban, surrounded by a breath-taking natural environment. Dolphins and whales can occasionally be spotted from the trails running along the ocean. There are eight scenic trails, which wind through the reserve. Ranging in distance from .5–1.5 miles and from an easy walk to an enjoyable hike, there are trails for everyone to blaze. Skilled trail guides will escort guests along trails of their choice.

NOTES: Leaves from the Lodge at Torrey Pines. Guests are to wear sturdy shoes or sneakers. No sandals allowed.

CATAMARAN CRUISE IN SAN DIEGO HARBOR/$185 per person/40 maximum participants
1:00 pm–5:00 pm

With such a unique view of the city, there should be no rush when taking it all in. Enjoy peaceful time on the water and relax onboard the Adventuress, a gorgeous 60-foot sailing catamaran.

Cruising around the San Diego harbor, guests will see sea lions, exotic birds, and a variety of marine life. Catamarans are extremely stable with dual hulls, offering speed, comfort and fun—guests won’t even know they are on the water.

Whether you choose to walk around the boat and mingle or find a peaceful quiet corner and watch San Diego’s shoreline and other sites, we will make sure that you don’t miss any of the beauty and history that San Diego Bay has to offer.

Notes: The Adventuress is only partially wheelchair accessible. It does not have elevators or wheelchair accessible restrooms; however, boarding is wheelchair accessible and boarding assistance can be provided. It is recommended that guests dress in warm clothing (layers).

BIKE AROUND CORONADO/$175 per person/40 maximum participants
1:00 pm–5:00 pm

Coronado Island is truly the crown of San Diego, and there’s no better way to explore it than with a guided bike tour. As guests and guide meander the beach bike paths and back roads, they will learn the storied history of Coronado, see the famed landmarks, and experience the culture that is unique to this quaint island.

The excursion will start from the Coronado Ferry Landing where guests will ride through the neighborhoods of both cottages and mansions, under the Coronado Bridge and to the world-famous Hotel Del Coronado. They will also stop at the Navy SEAL training center! As they continue to cruise along the beach, they’ll have time to take in the stunning views of the downtown skyline, PETCO Park, and San Diego Bay.

This 10-mile ride over bike-friendly Coronado terrain is so flat your pedals will nearly rotate themselves!

Saturday, September 30

USS MIDWAY/$120 per person
1:15 pm–5:00 pm

The USS Midway Museum is America’s most-visited floating ship museum. But we’ve made special arrangements that will appeal to everyone, from spouses to history buffs! You can enjoy a memorable tour of a ship that, believe it or not, is three football fields long, has 2,000 rooms, and once was the largest ship in the world (a distinction it held for a decade)!

Guests can enjoy a self-guided audio tour narrated by former Midway sailors and officers, interactive exhibits, climb-aboard aircraft, flight simulators, and visit the gift shop and café all at their own leisure. Depending on time available, the nearby Maritime Museum and Seaport Village may also be visited.

LA JOLLA SHORES OCEAN KAYAKING/$165 per person
1:00 pm–4:30 pm

Kayak touring is one of the fastest growing sports today. Evolving from ancient Eskimo design, modern kayaks have changed very little. State-of-the-art materials allow us to paddle light, beautiful kayaks silently and comfortably through many conditions and any waterway. Kayaking opens the natural wonders of our environment for you.

Today, guests have the opportunity to explore the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean in kayaks. Each person will be fitted with a life vest, paddle, and kayak. A personal guide will lead guests on a 90-minute tour through beautiful waters at La Jolla Shores.

NOTES: Caves are not always safe to enter due to tides. Guests can expect to get wet. Please wear moisture-wicking clothing, a bathing suit, and/or any other durable clothing. Water shoes are recommended.
